Six on Saturday 1 June 2019

How is it June already? Anyway, really feeling summery now and the garden perfect for morning tea and evening wine! First up today is my Geranium ‘Kashmir White’. First saw this in Kew Gardens a couple of years ago and ordered a few last Spring. Didn’t have much luck last year, and 2 of the 3 haven’t survived but this one has made a reappearance. Really pretty and delicate flowers. Next up is my Passion Flower, just starting to flower. Planted it early Spring last year and got a few flowers over the Summer. It’s climbed to the top of the back fence but hopefully won’t be overtaken by my thuggish Hops (which I cut back for the 2nd time this year earlier this week):

Last week I included my rose ‘ Princess of Phoenicia’ showing it was a really deep pink. Well it fades to a pale peach and here it is:

I’m hoping that it will be 3rd time lucky for this Salvia Caradonna. I’ve tried growing these for the past 2 years, even taking some cuttings last year which didn’t take. I’ve planted this in a slightly sunnier spot and will try again with the cuttings so fingers crossed.

Slightly more of a success story now. The third year for these Knautia Macedonia Pastel shades. Bees are loving them! Lots of roses last week and here’s the final one to flower, my ‘Rosy Cushion’. Planted in memory of my cat Miranda who died in March last year. A little like Miranda was, this is proving to be quite ungainly and needs quite a bit of staking to prevent it taking over the whole of the bed. But she’s very pretty, also like Miranda!

That’s it for this week. Head over to The Propogator for more sixes and see you soon!

Pastel Knautia is a new one on me. I’ve tried and failed with Scabious a few times, perhaps that would fare better.

The peach of your Princess of P. rose is glorious! Does she have a scent? I’m growing knautia ‘Thunder and Lightning’ for the first time and it also began blooming this week.

I’m another fan of your P of P rose. Really lovely. And that knautia, well, maybe I can find room for yet another plant. Good luck w/the salvia. Such a great colour in that one.

  4. Love that Geranium ‘Kashmir White’. I have a blue one that has self seeded in my stone wall but I love the delicate white one. The Rose is also glorious.

What happened with your salvia? Did you lose it over the winter? A couple of mine have come back and am taking cuttings again to be sure…

    1. Yeah, I lost it over the winter and cuttings I took didn’t take. However, another Salvia (with pale cream flowers) survived and is now rampant. The cuttings I took from that one also survived and I had to give the. Away as no room for them!
